Aspect Ratio Calculator & Jump Ring Size Finder

Aspect ratio (A.R.) for jump rings is the inner diameter (I.D.) of the ring divided by wire thickness.
EXAMPLE: 3/8" (0.375") I.D. ring of 16 gauge AWG (0.0508") wire would be: 0.375 / 0.0508 = 7.382 A.R.

Instructions:
  • Select Gauge and I.D. to pre-populate respective fields
  • Any changes to MEASUREMENTS or UNITS take precedence
  • UNITS need not be identical
  • Choose quantity of Rings to estimate Wire Length
  • Select a Metal or enter a Density to estimate Weight

Wire Lengths are based on I.D. (smaller number) and O.D. (larger number).
The most accurate length is closer to the average but it depends on several
factors. Weight is based on torus volume, Density, and number of Rings and
uses standard measurements (i.e., "postal" weight, not troy).
