Cliff & Cave - 0.999 Fine Silver Artistic Ingots

ITEM: This was a charge that didn't melt all the way. When I removed it from the crucible, it was too interesting to melt so I sawed it in half. One piece was forged to resemble a quartz crystal and the other was left alone. They seem ideally suited as paperweights, with the Cliff being easily spun by its spire.

MANUFACTURER & DATE: I made this by mistake. Better to make lemonade from lemons that get it squirted in your eyes and bawl like a baby!

HALLMARKS: Stamped with 999 for the silver purity and my registered trademark.

DIMENSIONS: The Cave is 2-1/4" tall with a 1-7/8" diameter. The Cliff is 2-3/4" tall to the spire with a diameter of about 1-3/4" to the flat sides.

WEIGHT: The Cliff tips the scales at 849 grams, the Cave at 530 grams. They are solid silver throughout except for the void in the Cave and the little recesses within the "sprinkles" on top of the Cliff.

MATERIAL: This pair was a happy accident. I loaded a crucible with silver shot, there was a malfunction, it was only partially melted.

CONSTRUCTION: This is a solid chunk of silver. It was a partially melted charge that has been sawed in half. The upper part was hammer forged into a quartz crystal imitation and the bottom section was left untouched.

FINISH: The Cliff has been hammer forged into a 14-sided crystalline-like structure with a flat bottom, frilly top and polished. The Cave has a butler's shine; its surfaces show the smoothness of the crucible wall. A slight slag discoloration about the size of a blueberry is visible in interior. Cut marks are present on the bottom.

CONDITION: This is new. You'll be the first owner. They have a nice shine but will slowly tarnish as they are handled. The crumbly part of the cliff will show some interesting colors as it has not been pickled.

MONOGRAMS: These have been left untouched.

NOTES: This would be extremely difficult to replicate. That is what makes it so special. The contrast of the two pieces adds to their charm.
