Finished necklace
Daintiest loop-in-loop I have

A chain family called loop-in-loop predates chainmaille by thousands of years. Within a given weave, there are endless modifications and designs. Several were screaming to be made in solid 18k gold.

Finally, my first gold necklace: A dainty micromaille one-sided single loop-in-loop masterpiece. The other is a boxy micromaille two-sided single loop-in-loop bracelet.

These are items four and five in the IYHTAITE Collection (If You Have To Ask It's Too Expensive). That's the slang name. It is part of the Aurum Elegantia gold collection.

Gold is too precious to squander on an unknown so I first make one in 0.999 fine silver. I'd rather screw it up in silver - not as much time is lost and it's less painful to melt it down and start over.

The exquisite nature of fine chains must be experienced in person.

But not just making it, making it well. This isn't novelty junk or a lame accessory with butted rings. It is the real deal with welded or soldered rings like jewelry should be! It takes considerably more time and skill. Gold deserves nothing less than the best of everything.

What's the point otherwise? Are you going to preface each showing of your, ahem, "masterpiece" with "I use the most expensive metal to make the ugliest, lowest quality chain because I don't have the skill to weld or solder it. I can't even handmake it, relying on premade components instead. I'm just a glorified assembler, not a talented artisan." That must be comforting to your potential customers, just what they want to hear. NOT!

Time for a reality check. Trying to assess a chain's tactile component through photos is like imagining how it would feel to rip down the side of a mountain on a bicycle if all you've ever done is ride a stationary bike. The exquisite nature of fine chains must be experienced in person. I make exceptional precious metal chain link jewelry so you'll find plenty of enjoyment here.

Item six in the Aurum Elegantia collection has already been made and will be featured in an upcoming blog. Number seven and beyond are in the planning stages.
